Does anyone know about the BLASER R-93 rifles? What makes them so expensive. Are they worth that amount of money? Seems as if you could get several good quality rifles by a varity of manufactures for the price of one of the R-93's.

I have the R93 Synthetic and Safari Synthetic with several barrels (.22-250, .243, 7mm-08, .308, 9.3x62, and .416 RM). Along with my .308 and .276 Steyr Scouts, they form my "working battery" of hunting rifles.

The distinctive features of the Blaser are: straight pull action (fast!) with decocking safety; and modular design with easy interchangeability of barrels, bolt heads, and magazine inserts to handle everything from varmint to dangerous game cartridges. The triggers are terrific, every Blaser barrel I have is very accurate, and they don't seem to be finicky about ammo. The proprietary fixed and QD saddle-style scope mounts return to zero very reliably.

The takedown feature is wonderful for traveling with a rifle. I use the Blaser takedown case, and it stows neatly in the bottom section of a drop-bottom rolling duffel I have. Even if checked separately, it doesn't look like a gun case. It definitely is my gun of choice for hunts involving airline trips.

In Europe, iron sights are standard on their barrels, and I wish the same were true here in the U.S., where plain barrels are the norm.

Thanks for the info

Thanks for the info - I was just curious about price compared to other manufacturers.

I really like the fact you can have interchangeabel barrels w/ scopes mounted, and the straight pull bolt.

I currently have a browning A-bolt in 7mm along w/ a variety of other rifles.

what is the cost of accessories for the R-93. I.E. Barrels?

Ultimately i would like to get the R-93 professional w/ the black synth stock w/ multiple barrels and a R-93 LRS. But of course your talking roughly $2500 - $2900 for the R-93 prof and $4500 for the LRS.

OUCH!

Thanks again.

Buy the R93 and don't worry about the cost. It's only money. You only live once so go for it. Here is a picture of my Blaser collection. A mere $20,000 or so.

I too wish GOOD iron sights were standard. M16 your collection is mighty nice! The K95 standard in .308 is on my wish list as is the Mauser M03.

Go for it, however you can.

I have a LRS2 in 300 Win Mag and one heck of an accurate rifle right out of the box. I'm also planning on getting another caliber for this set up. I'm looking at maybe a 6mm Norma BR conversion for it. In fact after the first of the year I have to get a new barrel for it since I shot out the first one.
I'm also hoping Sigarms can get me the 6mm set up even though they don't show it on their web site.

M16 - that is some collection. I think I will start saving my money and buy one. I'm leaning towards the 308 as I have a 7MM, 223, 270, 30-06, 30/30, and getting a howa 243 thumbhole stock for christmas. What I really like is that I have all of them and after I get the R93 I can pick up all of those calibers in the spare barrels also.

BTW - how much are the barrels? AND are there any good dealers you know of. I have just seen all of the listings @ gunbroker.com are those competitive prices?

J- My favorite place to buy is www.waregunshop.com They have always given me the best deals. My first purchase was with my local dealer but he no longer handles Sig.
