I have the R93 Synthetic and Safari Synthetic with several barrels (.22-250, .243, 7mm-08, .308, 9.3x62, and .416 RM). Along with my .308 and .276 Steyr Scouts, they form my "working battery" of hunting rifles.
The distinctive features of the Blaser are: straight pull action (fast!) with decocking safety; and modular design with easy interchangeability of barrels, bolt heads, and magazine inserts to handle everything from varmint to dangerous game cartridges. The triggers are terrific, every Blaser barrel I have is very accurate, and they don't seem to be finicky about ammo. The proprietary fixed and QD saddle-style scope mounts return to zero very reliably.
The takedown feature is wonderful for traveling with a rifle. I use the Blaser takedown case, and it stows neatly in the bottom section of a drop-bottom rolling duffel I have. Even if checked separately, it doesn't look like a gun case. It definitely is my gun of choice for hunts involving airline trips.
In Europe, iron sights are standard on their barrels, and I wish the same were true here in the U.S., where plain barrels are the norm.
