I have what may be to some an ignorant question. Are IMR and Hodgdon the same powder. For instance I have a nosler manual with almost no H powders but a lot of I. Would a 61 gn charge of IMR4350 be the same as a 61 gn charge of H4350? Any help on this subject would be much appreciated. I'm still new to reloading and don't want to hurt my firearms nor myself. I'm loading some .243 and 7mm RM tonight and was wanting to know before I get started. Thanks guys!

Dang it. That sucks. I load mostly Nosler bullets so I bought one of their manuals earlier while in town. and 90% of their powder information is Viht or IMR. I don't have a fully stocked shelf of powder yet but everything I have is Hodgdon

No

IMR and Hodgdon are different powders and use different data. They are close in IMR 4831 and IMR 4350 but different. The same is true for IMR 4895- closer but still different. Hodgdon owns both companies but they are different. It makes things difficult for new hand loaders. There are no stupid questions when you don't know. Better safe than sorry. Enjoy-I know I do.
