Anyone use Bluedot with 200 grain Speer Gold Dot .44 special bullets? I don't show a listing in the Speer manual with Bluedot, however, I have load data from Hornady that uses Bluedot with 200 Grain XTP. Please educate me if I should use a different powder. Thanks.

I can think of a whole bunch or better .44 Spl powders.

Blue Dot needs magnum pressure to burn clean.
Not in my .44 Spl you don't!

I loaded a max charge at 900 fps. It is for a Taurus .44 magnum 3" air weight pistol. Any chance I will blow up? I will post my findings. Thanks.

I really seriously doubt you can blow up any .44 Magnum gun with listed .44 Spl loads.

I haven't really found a good use for blue bot in my 44 caliber loads. The big rounds get 2400 and the lighter stuff gets green dot, unique or 700X.

Agree with RC, you'll be alright in the 44 mag frame with those loads. You'll just have unburnt powder.

I could have used something else. I used a mix of load data from the Hornady book (bluedot listed), and the alliant website (Speer GDHP bullets listed, w/o bluedot), to come up with the load. I checked other sources, 5 or 6, and no other book has it listed. I think the pressures will be fine. I was hoping someone would reassure me that the load works. Thanks again, Happy Holidays!

Speer's data using V V-N350 or Unique works much better in 44 special case at 44 special pressure with the 200 grain GD's. With the cost of these bullets, am not wasting any on any powder that just "works". Blue dot can give very good accuracy at lower pressures, but can leave debris behind large enough to tie up a tightly fit revolver/semi.

If you're loading these for a 44 mag revolver, 231 or Red dot in 44 mag cases works extremely well.

I did not realize that Blue Dot was such a "dirty" powder at lower speeds. I was concerned because I was using my Hornady book and it listed it there as top velocity. The cartridge is loaded to be used as defense only in a 3" air weight Taurus .44 magnum. I figured top velocity would work great in this little hand cannon. When I started checking other sources, I was shocked that it is not listed and became worried that I made a poor choice, or worse a dangerous combination. I will shoot them, see what happens, and probably leave Blue Dot to my 9mm rounds.
