I have a small Boker Ceramic Folder. Boker says to return for sharpening at $15 a pop.

Does anyone know what it would take to home sharpen this knife? Diamond "stone", or what.

Thanks,

Ralph

Best to let them do it. A little too much pressure and you can end up with knife fragments.

Concur. No more often than that kniife should need to be resharpened, I think $15 is a bargain.

Don't try it at home, I've tried fine diamond hones as well as ceramic sharpeners, all I got was chipped edges.

If memory serves (and I could be wrong on this) some companies use special super-fine diamond discs and others use a super-high pressure water stream with grit in it very similar to a "water cutter"

Diamond hones aren't hard enough. You need something in the Rockwell 1000 range and cold as ice so nothing overheats. I use a banker's heart :p

I've got a big boker ceramic folder and I'll send it back when it need sharpening but I don't use too much but it still has an edge you can shave with:evil:

I have a Boker and it dulled very quickly.

I tried sharpening it with my diamond hone stones, but that didn't really do anything.

I sorta bought this knife on a lark, so it is nothing that I carry daily or, for the most part, even remember that I own - eventually I'll send it back to Boker to get sharpened.

Salesman probably forgot to tell you that part

I've always been suspicious of ceramic blades. 15 bucks for an edge that will last all others? Probably well worth the price. I just don't like not being able to sharpen my own knife. Also, I don't like a blade that won't flex.
