I am looking for a bolt for a post 1964 Winchester Model 70 classic chambered in 270. Any ideas?
Thanks a bunch!!

There seems to be a lot more Model 70's without bolts around then there are extra bolts for them.

Only places I know of to try would be Winchesters Factory repair centers.
But I wouldn't hold my breath.

Because of Headspaceing, it is NOT merely replacing a lost bolt.
PLUS, changes have been made in the actions/bolts of present vs. pre64 stuff.
In other words the parts are not interchangable.
In my humble opinion, you HAVE a problem.
GOOD LUCK!!

IMO: Removing bolts from rifles for storage is a very bad idea in the first place.

Often the result is just such as these two cases.

I have a friend who bought matching very low serial # rifle's of everything Kimber of Oregon ever made.

He kept the rifles in one gun safe, and the bolts in another smaller safe.

Of course, some low-life cretin broke into his house and stole the small safe while he was on vacation.

That was twenty some years ago, and to this day he still has the finest collection of Kimber of Oregon rifles without bolts in existence!

He and I both agree if he had left the bolts in the rifles, they would not have been stolen.
And even if they had, at least somebody would still have some very fine working rifles, with a good chance of him recovering at least some of them.

I couldn't agree more and fail to see why anyone would remove the bolt for anything other then to clean it.

Mod. 70 bolt

Well I don't know why the bolt was removed, it belongs to my sister-in-law, she probably removed it because of her kids. Al

Modeel 70 Win. bolt

Checked all the resorces today, only found one and it was for a magnum. Everyone I called gave me ph# of someone else, and found myself going in circles. Guess I'll give it back to her for a door stop. Al

Check ebay. They recently started letting people sell more firearms parts. I did a search for "Winchester bolt 70" and noticed that while currently there are only pre-64 bolts, one 1970ish bolt sold last week for less than $140.

Good luck.

aerod1, do a google search for GunBroker and when you find the web site do a search for 275489359. There is a 1957 bolt body for sale with 2 days to go on the auction. I have bought several items from this dealer without any problems. I would expect the bolt body to sell for about $175 so bid high. BW

WOW there is a real problem. I have a 70 that has a deformed bolt face. It was a very fine shooting rifle. I HAVE PLACE IT ON INJURED RESERVE AND PURCHASED ANOTHER RIFLE. IF YOU FIND ONE please LET ME KNOW WHERE. I AM IN NEED OF A UNBRUSIED BOLT.

GOOD LUCK!
