I've never ordered from these people because of the dozens (literally) of horrible experiences that were posted on TFL. However, I was told recently that their business has improved much over the past year or so. Has anybody dealt with them recently or heard anything? They have great prices on stuff ($20 for 25 lithium batteries for my surefire) but I'm not willing to risk the money if their customer service hasn't gotten a lot better than it used to be.

Not recently, but they screwed me hardcore last time I tried them. I will never order from them agian, and will discourage anyone from using them, regardless of improvement.

Let the buyer beware!!

1 out of 4 or 5 has gone wrong.

The one that went bad: I placed an order back in October and several items were backordered. The other stuff came right away. I emailed and asked when I could expect the backordered stuff to arrive. They responded promptly and said a week or two. “OK†I said.

Problem was I forgot about the order until 2 weeks ago when someone else mentioned Botach. I contacted them about the status and received a very prompt and apologetic reply telling me that one of the items was in stock, the other not. I advised them to cancel the out-of-stock item and ship the in-stock item. It arrived a couple of days later.

My suggestion: CALL them and make sure they have what you want before placing the order. From my experience and others that I’ve read, their system just doesn’t work at all when it comes to out-of-stock/backordered items.

Botach runs a business like many others on the internet these days.
No or low inhouse stock, so sometimes when one item is in great demand there will be backorders.
The good part about this type of business is that they can have lower prices, as they don't need to have hundreds of thousands of dollars tied up in merchandise.
This gives the end user a better deal. If you need something right-now, then go to your lokal store and pay a premium.

Call first and find out if it is in stock, they'll ship these in 1-2 days.

If not in stock, it automatically becomes backordered although they do not notify you of this fact, so you wait & wait & wait, sometimes for months.

If they do have it, it is usually the best price.

BT has screwed me for about $50 total from two different deals. One was a failure to refund $ for a part I returned and the other was for charging me for an item not shipped. Unfortunately, both cases were where the items were part of bigger orders.

I don't like dealing with BT at all. However, I have still managed to come out way ahead on some of my purchases. I purchased an ACOG from them that was a little more than $100 cheaper than I could get it anywhere else at the time. I have gotten Scorpion flashlights from them on sale that were about $7 cheaper than I could get them other places, CR123 batteries at quite some savings as well.

I would suggest that if you have to deal with them, then do so using a credit card and not purchase more than one item at a time. It is easier to contest a complete charge with some credit card companies than a partial charge. There are savings to be had and good savings at that, but the hassle may not be worthwhile for less expensive items.

Las year I bought an M3 LED from Botach without being aware of their less-than-sterling reputation. It came promptly and as advertised. A month or so later I got an e-mail notice from
Botach about a special price on some Bates boots, which I ordered and which also were delivered promptly.

I've read enough bad stories to be wary of these folks, but my actual experience with them has been excellent. Calling to make sure that they have the item in stock is probably good advice, and I'll probably do that if I order something else from them.

I have ordered from them many times. Yes their front line customer service sucks.

BUT!

If you call the managers or the owner (both phone numbers are listed on their webpage), they will make it right. Don't assume anything is in stock, and don't order from the web and you'll be fine.

Their prices can't be beat often.

I swore the last order I placed with them was going to be my last. One of the items I ordered was different from what they shipped me. I called and asked them if I could send it back for the right item but it was a $3 product and not worth the postage back. So I asked them to send me the right item and that I would be willing to pay them for it if they sent it to me regular mail so I wouldn't have to pay $8 shipping on a $3 item. I never got it and gave up.

So last week I placed another order with them and decided to give them one last try. All I really wanted was a P60 lamp for my SureFire Defender. I ordered a few other items in addition. When I got the package everything was inside except the P60. The packing slip simply indicated "Item out of stock, please reorder." So I'm supposed to place a reorder for an item that they didn't backorder for me when it was out of stock. What happens next, I get a packing slip in the mail telling me to reorder again if it's out of stock?!?!

I'm through with Botach...
