It appears my local Cabela's was stocking up their bargain cave in advance of anticipated Memorial Day weekend sales traffic. I was in last night, and there were a bunch of in-line blackpowder rifles in the cave. They had the exact same Traditions Pursuit G4 Ultralight I had been looking at back in March. The price had been deeply slashed, even below Cabela's currently listed on-line sale price. Though marked used, the clerk said it was actually new (probably marked used so they could sell it as-is w/ no return). He also said they originally had four of that model, but two were sold already. Well, now three are sold.

Quick note: If you hate Traditions products, it's too late to tell me now, since I can't return the rifle.

Anyways, I would be interested to hear what loads people have used for this rifle. Main use will be for SC whitetails and hogs (if I ever see any).

This is the first BP weapon I have purchased (never shot one yet, either), but I am looking forward to starting deer season two weeks earlier. :)

That looks similar to my BuckStalker in black. Traditions may be a "budget" brand, but I happen to like the quality/price ratio. I am currently running saboted 240 grain Hornady XTP hollowpoints over 100 grains of RS powder, IIRC. Much better accuracy than my old BuckHunter Pro, with a 2-pound bolt that took an eternity to travel to the primer...

You'll have lots of fun shooting it. Nice to hear that good bargains are available. I'm not sure if Traditions still hypes the three pellet load (150 gr load). My advise if using pellets or powder is follow the powder manufactures directions. Several years back there were problems for some folks using 3 pettet loads.
Have fun with your new in-line.

You just might find that the flexibility of being able to adjust your loads at the range has it's own satisfying appeal.
You might want to try Real Black Powder instead of the pellets most modern inline shooter seem to utilize.
Real Black Powder costs less and and allows you to easily adjust your load to find the optimum performance.

Lots of fun!
I picked up a Vortex Strikerfire couple years back from Cabelas ($100 less than their usual sale price, a steal)
Then I added a Vortek Diamondback HP 2x8 glass

usually shoot 90-100gr 777 or BH for a 250gr barnes, move up to 100-110gr powder for the 300gr sabot.
Depends on the sabot. The Expander seems to do better with a bit more punch
the cheaper Hornandy SST a bit less powder.
Anyhow, thats my rifle's preference.

Oh, I have the Optima V2 Pistol.
110gr pushing a 300gr sabot,... I need to wear gloves. The checkering tears my hand up.
That pistol a LOT of fun. Wild Fun!!
when feeling wimpy I just use 80gr to push a 200gr sabot
