I just purchased my first ever firearm, a Colt Commando .38 special revolver. I bought it used for $350 from Bob's in Norfolk, VA. It has a black finish, not shiny, but I hate to call it "dull". From what I've been able to gather, it is a 1980's variation of the dectective special. The dick special and cobra pictures I've seen look similar, as does the WWII era commando, but I'm pretty sure this is the 80's version. Trouble is, I've not come across a picture of one that looks exactly like the one I have yet. I love firing this weapon, and would like to hear any info/annectdotes from poeple who have this same revolver.

WW II version?
It seems this is a WW II version made for air crews and such.

no, it's a little different from the WWII model
The revolver pictured in that link has a longer barrel, the one I own is a snubby. I looks just the detective special except it's all black. It says on the barrel:
COMMANDO SPEC.
.38 SPECIAL CTG.
