I know Lapua is considered top dog, and Peterson is developing a good reputation. What about Atlas, Bertram, and Gunwerks? I only ran across them looking for other-than-Hornady brass to feed a 6.5 PRC. Anybody have any experience with them?

I had one lot of Bertram .45 Basic brass for my .45-120 Sharps that blew the bottoms out of the primer pockets the first firing, leaving a big hole where the primer should have seated. When I confronted Bruce Bertram about it at the SHOT Show, he did give me 19 new cases, since that's all he had with him in Vegas. Those have held up better, but the quality of his brass varies. I also have some that the rims were too thick, and since the .45-120 headspaces off the rim, they wouldn't allow the bolt on my falling block to close. I fixed that by taking a few thousandths off the base and recutting the primer pockets, since this batch had enough brass in the base to allow for that. By the way, these cases run about $3.00 each retail.

Like I said, his quality varies, but there are some scarce calibers where he's the only one offering the brass.

Hope this helps.

^^^^ I lhave used his 25-20 Single Shot brass in my 44 1/2 Stevens and it was in spec along with holding up for 15 loadings so far when annealing every fourth time. No experience with any others.

I have heard nothing but positive raving about ADG (Atlas). From 22 Creedmoor to 300 RUM. Weight variance, factory brass prep, and quantity of firings have all been positive.

Thanks. I bought 100 rounds of Hornady 6.5 PRC ammo to baseline and another 100 unprimed Hornady cases (before they went out of stock everywhere) so I'm good to go for a while. But I'm thinking about checking out Atlas for my next brass purchase.
