I have a Pedersoli Frontier rifle and I am work on a Pedersoli Dixie super cub kit.
I love the look of the "brass work" on these rifles, but don't so much love all the polishing. What I'm wondering is there some type of finish for brass, or at least a polish the won't hurt the wood finish so the the rifles don't have to be taken apart to polish the brass.

The traditional method is to apply a lacquer finish over the polished brass. Clean the surface with acetone to remove all traces of the polish. I have tried using a auto polish called "ICE" and it seems to work well. All you are doing is keeping moisture and finger prints off the bare metal.

Birchwood Casey Brass Black

You can always let it turn a natural patina - gets better with age. I have taken my patches after cleaning the barrel (black powder) and wet them, and wiped that over the brass to speed the process.

The finish I like the best on brass is Birchwood Casey Brass Black - turns the brass a dark/black antique color.

Get tired of it you can always polish it back bright.
