Well, I was a bonehead. I moved in May and thought I had put all of my brass into the plastic Sterilite shoeboxes. For the past 8 months I have been working on my house and training my dog. Haven't any reloading done. Over the holidays I built a new bench, got all must stuff situated and couldn't find my .45 Colt brass.

Low and behold I had left it in the vibratory cleaner for the last 8 months. Just corn cob media and a little bit of non-ammonia polish has been in it. The polish claims to not harm brass. It is Frankford Arsenal Brass Polish : http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=198878

My question...is the brass still safe? I can see no signs that it has been weakened. If I should throw it out I am not completely upset as it is only 100 pieces and they have each been reloaded about 10 times.

What do y'all think?

It would have to be an extraordinary amount of brass polish in the corncob to damage brass. Just be sure it was not ammonia.

I think you should send it to me, and after I load it about five more times, I'll let you know how good it was...........

Seriously, you haven't done it any harm. Just load it and shoot it.

Hope this helps.

Fred

Thanks guys. I didn't think it was a problem, and this is my standard pressure use brass. Wanted to make sure. No ammonia for sure, and when I put the polish in it was less than a tablespoon compared to a pound or so of media.

I think my record was about 3 days straight with the tumbler running. Started it up in the shed and got real busy at work for a couple days. Remembered at 12:30am one night and ran out to turn it off. Now that was some shiny brass! :)

I've seen a couple of long term brass polishing tests - like for weeks and months. There was no measurable effect on the brass, and it wasn't really any shinier than what they got after a day or so.
