i got a tip from a friend that a man wanted to get rid of two browning auto,s yeasterday and this morning i called and he said come look at them. the one was used quite a bit with a cracked forend that i passed on, the second one was much-much better with no cracks or pitting and only minor blueing wear and with a ex bore ( made in 1968). the price was more than fair and after talking to a few friends about the first one i may go back and make a offer for it. i have owned a few over the years, but they were standard weights and i thought a little heavy.

I am a fan of Browning A-5's and Remington Model 11's. Your pickup looks good. I use mine for 3-gun, so they can get shot a lot. To prevent problems with the wood forearms, I replace the forearm with a plastic unit which has a built in bumper to ease the beating. Doesn't look like much, but they last with no problems.
Pull the forearm and look at the recoil spring and drag system. Those parts can be easily replaced if necessary.

Congrats!!
A5 Light may be my favorite field use shotgun of all time. I bought one years ago with a broken stock (laying against the truck, guy drives off, guy behind him ran over it) Bought a stock at a gun show that wasn't checkered and used that gun for years. Got an offer I couldn't turn down so it's long gone now.

I had a Light 12 for a time. It was a joy for the rounds of skeet and sporting clays I used it for. Mine had the typical plain barrel with raised bead and Mod choke.

I actually traded it plus cash my way for my BPS 20ga that I still own. I was glad to have owned an original Belgian Browning Humpback but the BPS has been a real good friend over the years.

Nice find!
I love my 1954 model Auto-5 Light Twelve. It's a gun that I take out just looking for things to shoot with it (targets and plinking, not killing for sport).
