Browning buckmark MICRO?

Hey folks,

I wandered into Gander Mountain today and saw a Browning Buckmark Micro Standard (blue finish, 4 inch bull barrel) on sale for $219.

I put it on layaway, as today is the last day of the sale. I wanted to do a little research before I just bought the gun.

My biggest question is, is there an accuracy difference between the short heavy barrel the Micro offers, and the other Browning .22's?

I'd rather spend more if I can get an appreciable difference in performance, but if this will do 95% of what the other Brownings will do, I will buy it.

Anyone have any experience with this gun?

Shorter barrels have shorter sight radius and thus small changes in sight alignment makes a bigger difference in point of impact on target when compared to a longer barreled pistol. This makes a longer barrel easier to shoot more accurately for most shooters. Intrinsic accuracy (IE accuracy from a machine rest) where the shooter's input is minimized will generally produce statistically equal accuracy regardless of barrel length.

I have a version of this. I put in a fiber optic front. Since then, somebody has put out a fiber optic rear sight set. Beyond that, loved the gun.

I've got a Micro too. The barrel isn't "that" short, thus I am very accurate with it. Good gun.

4" barrel isn't really that short, but I guess compared to the 5.5" Buck Marks that's a big difference in sighting radius.

For a plinker I think it'd be great.

I'm looking at the Bull Barrel Micro Buck Mark and trying to figure out why it retails for $80 or so less than the regular Micro model you're looking at.

I'm wondering if the Bull model is Camper-based and will have the plastic sight base instead of the more durable metal one. Anybody know?
