Browning Buckmark Question

My Buckmark Bullseye consistently feeds Standard Velocity CCI ammo just fine.

A friend and I both picked up 5.5" Buck Marks on sale when the local gun shop closed. I've only shot standard velocity stuff, but my friend has shot everything from hi-velocity down to primer-only rounds. According to him, the primer-only stuff (no powder in the case) does not cycle, the subsonic stuff he's tried (doesn't remember brand) definitely had a high failure rate (as many as 2 per magazine), and standard ammo (as expected) works every time.

I'd not expect reliability with sub sonics - even if they seem to mostly ''work''. AFAIK the gun is designed to take std velocity stuff as a minimum and thus reckon the recoil spring will be a tad too strong for weaker stuff.

I'd expect same situation with Rugers too usually.

Mine works fine with subsonics, and sees plenty of them due to less noise. They sure are nice to shoot.

Mine is WELL broken in, honestly I don't remember trying standard velocity ammo when it was new or newish.......

I really kinda like Remington Pistol Match ammo - -

They used to call it standard velocity.

Both my short barrel and Elder Son's longer barrel Buckmarks function fine with standard velocity .22 LR. Only thing I've noticed in that regard is that when they're dirty - and I mean really FILTHY -- they drag a bit and function is not quite as certain.

Best,
Johnny
