Does Browning have a reputation for poor finish on their guns? I have a Citori 625 sporting that I am very unhappy with the quality of the finish for a $2800 gun. I am extremely careful with it and the finish always seems to go dull or have issues. Before you start the flames, I know they are meant to be shot and not admired, but when you spend a lot for a gun, it should not look like crap in a couple months. I know it is an oil finish and needs to be cared for, but several people I know with oil finish guns only ever reapply the oil every couple years, not every couple months. I could send it back to browning, but that could take several months and right now I need it for my trap shoots and sporting clay outings. I had tried the Watco danish oil as the manual suggest, but that did not seem to cure and was not very durable. I am now trying the Formbys, also as the manual says and that seems a little better. Anything else I am missing? I have a Browning x-bolt medallion on layaway, but now I am wondering about the finish on that. I am just not a fan of black/composite guns. Maybe I am just too much of a traditionalist and have to live with the drawbacks of wood finish.
