Browning White River skinner

Are the browning White river skinner knives Model 322694 any good?

How would it work as a first hunting knife?

Says its made in italy and cost $47

Browning usually makes or most of the time remarks or has made for them good quality products. 440c is the only 440 I like. It is good steel and is fairly easy to sharpen. Just don't expect that teflon finish to be scratch proof. I have a Fallkniven with a teflon finish and it scratched fairly easily. Looks to be a decent knife and the price shouldn't kill you. Personally I like Bark Rivers and custom Fallknivens.

The grip does not look very comfortable for lengthy use, but that's just a guess, I've never held one before.

If you like the look you might want to check into some other brands. It could be pretty cool (I really don't care for the look, personally) but you might better go with a sure thing for the same price or a few bucks more. Here are some somewhat similar knives.

I am not going to say that they aren't any good, and taste is a personal thing, but I personally wouldn't buy that knife as a hunting knife. As other have mentioned, it looks pretty darn uncomfortable to use.

If your looking for something a little different from the traditional hunting knives, I might suggest a Buck Alpha model of some sort. Somewhat more expensive, but it's pretty hard to beat a Buck. If the more traditional look is ok with you, the good ol' Buck Woodsman is around 40 bucks, and is many peoples first (and often last) hunting knife. A very proven design.

With all that being said, buy what you like, man. There are quite a few good choices, possibly including that Browning, in the general price range you mention.

how are Buck 119 knives? I looked at one at walmart it looks very nice except the handle can become a lil slippery when it gets blood on it. I imagine you can add some sort of grip to it or something?

I ended up buying two knives today a buck 110 folding hunter and a buck 119 today they were both $65 dollars together brand new at walmart, i always heard buck had good knives and I feel like they will complement eachother very well
