I'm off for 4 weeks hunting and fishing tomorrow. I'm heading to Australia's Northern Territory with a mates safari business. I'm taking my new favourite toy, a .416 ruger Alaskan. I've previously used a .458wm and .338 wm. The .338 didnt make it this season (due to airline weight constraints) and the I've sold the .458.
It's my opinion the .416 is 3 times the rifle the .458 is anyway. It's mild shooting the .400gn hornady's or woodleighs from it, and it has the legs to be a medium distance rifle as well. Something the .458 isnt really.
We will be knocking over wild dogs, feral donkys, pigs and buffalo.
