I'm off for 4 weeks hunting and fishing tomorrow. I'm heading to Australia's Northern Territory with a mates safari business. I'm taking my new favourite toy, a .416 ruger Alaskan. I've previously used a .458wm and .338 wm. The .338 didnt make it this season (due to airline weight constraints) and the I've sold the .458.
It's my opinion the .416 is 3 times the rifle the .458 is anyway. It's mild shooting the .400gn hornady's or woodleighs from it, and it has the legs to be a medium distance rifle as well. Something the .458 isnt really.
We will be knocking over wild dogs, feral donkys, pigs and buffalo.
here are some pics of my last trip there:

I'll post some reports when I'm back.

Looks sweet! I wish we had a big animal like that over here, but on the other hand, I'm sure you say the same things about some of our animals. Hopefully you can post some pics when you get back from this trip.

Yep, I'd love to hunt bear and mountain lion, as well as some elk. I'd really like to do some handgun hunting in the US.
