Buffalo Bore .380 chronograph data

I just got back from the range with my chronograph and a few pistols and thought I would post the data.

The weather conditions were as follows:
-Temp 56 degree F
-Humidity: 49%
-Pressure: 30.05 in

Elevation ~630' MSL

The chronograph was a Pro Chrono set up 6' from the muzzle. The .380 data was from a Beretta 84B w/ 3.82" barrel. The 9mm data was from a S&W M910 w/ 4" barrel. The .38 data was from a 4" S&W M13.

Buffalo Bore 95gr +P FMJ
High - 1179fps
Low - 1141fps
Average (10 shot) - 1158fps
ES - 39
SD - 12
Muzzle energy - 283 lbs

Buffalo Bore 100gr +P Cast FP
High - 1204 fps
Low - 1175 fps
Average (10 shot) - 1187 fps
ES - 29
SD - 10
Muzzle energy - 313 lbs

Just for comparison, today the Fiocchi standard pressure 9APHP (115gr JHP) averaged 1130fps and 326lbs of energy from my S&W910. My S&W 4" M13 loaded with the Remington 158gr LSWCHP +P 158gr averaged 876fps/269lbs.

It looks like BB is real winner especially when loaded into a "full" sized .380. I'm very comfortable carrying my Beretta loaded with 14 rounds of BB 100gr FP's.

Great stuff !!! From your readings it looks like the info that BB states in their website is pretty accurate. I too plan on getting some of the .380acp +P 100gr. hardcast ammo for my S&W Bodyguard 380. From the readings they have it should be similar to the Colt Mustang's barrel of 2.75inches and 1072ft/sec. which is about 255+ft-lbs of energy. Thanks again for your testing. God Bless

Good info, from your report and others I have read, I am convinced the BB 100gr +P out of my Sig 232 is the best I can do.

Just to add, last summer, with this round, I put down a wounded doe (car hit it) from about 10ft. away, hit behind the ear, the deer went down like a hammer hit it, died instantly. Hard to describe, but the bullet wound was impressive. A guy standing there asked,"is that a 45?"

I've posted a lot about Buffalo Bore 380 ammo and it's the real deal. I feel as comfortable carrying my P238 or P380 with BB ammo as I do with a 9x19.

I don't shoot hundreds of rounds each month as the stuff is expensive, but I've probably shot several hundred over 2 years and it's impressive ammunition.

The pistols I use don't seem to mind either. I have no obvious spring wear nor other signs of damage from it's use. It's superb carry ammo.

I've posted a lot about Buffalo Bore 380 ammo and it's the real deal. I feel as comfortable carrying my P238 or P380 with BB ammo as I do with a 9x19.

Your not going to see any difference in spring wear with BB, but you might notice more wear at slide/frame contact points from the greater slide velocity during recoil with BB ammo.

The only thing that wears springs is the number of compressions the spring has.

Underwood has some .380 offerings including 102gr:

His 95gr is listed as 1050 FPS but in all my testing of his ammo they go more than advertised. I would say it will be 1075 FPS or so... box of 50 instead of 20.

He doesn't have a +P rating but maybe in the future.

The BB 100gr +P is the only SD ammo I carried in my Sig P238. I also ordered a few extra springs (cheap).
