i recently had a new barrel put on my sako finnbear. accuracy has been horrible ever since. checked for proper seating depth on the bullet(i reload) and the rifling start so far away from the case mouth that the bullet almost falls out of the case. is there a remidy for this or do i need to start with a fresh barrel.

The barrel could be cut off a thread or two and rechambered.

Tell the gunsmith to hold the free-bore to shorter specs this time.

But, almost everyone is using a long free-bore in factory barrels now to control pressure.
Roy Weatherby started it way back when, and it has caught on all over now.

That's not to say it is a bad thing, or that it distroys accuracy.
Some of the early Westherby's were exceptionally accurate rifles, free-bore and all!

I suspect something else is going on with the bedding, scope mounts, scope, etc.
