Bullseye Pistol Match - Hinesville, GA

ENTRY FEE: $15 per shooter, includes range fee and targets. Handgun rentals and ammunition purchases are available.

COURSE OF FIRE: Slow fire shooting - 10 rounds each at 7 yards, 15 yards, and 25 yards using either centerfire or rimfire pistols or revolvers. At least two 30-round sessions will be fired with the best targets being scored. B2 targets will be used.

Prizes will depend on the number of shooters. This will be our first match at Mission Essential and our goal is to have a formal pistol club with regular matches of various types.

Information edited. This is not a NRA sanctioned match but an informal get-together to gauge interest in a club membership.

A typical bullseye match would be shot at 50 feet (indoor), 25 and 50 yards outdoors and require 270 rounds for a full 2700.

Fifty cents a round in range fees seems a bit steep. Do you get to shoot anything interesting?

Perhaps but the range owner is closing his range to hold this even, in turn losing two hours worth of business. In addition, as I stated, this is an informal shoot and not sanctioned by any organization. We hope to get enough people together to have a formal club and to hold sanctioned matches from a variety organizations such as NRA, IDPA, etc.

BE Slowfire at 7yds!!!??? Not sure what that would do for interest. If you are trying to establish interest in the sport, I would think you would at least want to make it even somewhat similar to what an actual BE match would be. Example, we do a winter indoor league, 50ft 60 shot gallery match(20 sf, 20 tf, 20 rf). In the spring and summer we shoot outdoors double 900's (1-RF, and 1-CF/45) SF @ 50yds, TF&RF @ 25. I highly doubt you would be able to do anything sanctioned at all, at those distances. So my question is why would you want to try and "create interest" in something you could not even do anyway??? At least do it all at 25yds, and do some TF and RF, even if you only do a 600 like we do in our indoor league. If you did that, you would be at least giving them a taste of what BE really is, not just SF at strange and random distances. Doesn't look like BE to me.......... just some guys paying way too much money for Target Practice!!

OK, I'll try to stay off the purist soap box. Bullseye does have it's rules though. Calling an informal match at shorter distances is well... Child's play. Still, it is something to guage interest. But at such a cost to be able to shoot at the range. I doubt interest will be satisfied. I assume that the range is commercial and busy, and during the time of this little competition he'd be losing money? That's the need for such a costly fee?

My money is on the kid with a Buckmark!

Please respond back with score results. I'm looking at a B2 50' Slow Fire target on my bulletin board. It's a 99. Gosh, I wonder if I could shoot a perfect score at less than half that distance.

Then you're going to shoot the same sized target at 25yds? Huh?

You're not shooting timed and rapid? Huh? That's not Bullseye then! 2/3 of a BE match is Timed and Rapid fire.

Maybe.. An 'Expensive' Pistol Match.

Out west we shoot a full 2700. (270 shots, in about a 5hr session) for ~$35, with the 60/40 rule or some such for prize money.

You are enforcing 'One hand shooting', Right?

Ok, this has all been in jest. I do realize that your intensions are good. Bullseye as a whole is fading in some regions. Fast tactical shooting seems to win the younger shooters over. True BE is the oldest (I think), organized pistol competition held in the states, with a strong following for International Pistol that is quite a bit like BE. So, if you can succeed in starting a BE league, even just a rimfire league at your local range, Good For You. We could always use more interest in this sport.

If the range owner is feeling put out by supporting organized competition, then why shoot there? I can't imagine two hours of anything ruining the guys weekend, but some people would charge for air if they could.

I hate to be the guy that points this out but organized competitions are what keeps most ranges and their crappy staff employed. This is what drives interest and brings in shooters. Very few places can rely on Fudds and plinkers to keep the lights on. Its the guys who come down every week, bring their friends and tell their buddies about the decent place they shoot at that drive most ranges.
