Thinking about a Black Rifle. Don't expect to shoot matches or varmint hunt. For defense and, well, just 'cause. But I'd sure like nice accuracy.

Anyway this one caught my eye...at AIM surplus for a little under $800.

Shipped with hard case, detachable carry handle, top rail, chromed bore/chamber.

Any opinions? Just getting started thinking about something that's not a Garand.

I have an AR-15 with a Bushmaster XM-15 receiver.

Mine cost only about $600 because I built it out of a receiver and a complete parts kit.

I also own several other rifles in bigger calibers, mostly .308.

I say get that Bushmaster. Then, get something else.

Can't have too many....

I have one or more of that model - a nice rifle. Buying it turned out to be a bit like getting a free crack sample, but there are worse habits (than AR's, that is).

I have that exact model and think its great. Sounds like a decent price too, my buddy paid over 900 for his. Still newish for me but no problems so far with probably 6 or 7 hundred rounds through it so far.

I got one in July, my first AR. Really have nothing but good to say about it. Okay, don't get too excited about the "hard case." Other than that, it's a great gun.

The same exact one I picked up when I thought it was time to get one before I wasn't able to. Had to have the barrel re-indexed and it came back perfect. That was about 4 years ago.

I love my Bushy - it's been completely reliable, more accurate then I am, and loads of fun to shoot. The one thing you have to worry about with ARs is that they multiply. ;)

I got my XM15 A3 about two years ago and it's been great. It also sounds like a good price as well. My only advice is to forget the permanently pinned telescoping stock and get a regular full stock.
