I must be blind or stupid (my wife contends I'm blind, so we'll go with that), but I cannot find a place that is actually stocking the Cavalry Arms C1 buttstock. I went to the Cav Arms site, and they direct you to their dealers, but no one seems to have it for sale. Even Brownells, which I've been assured has everything, does not list it on their site.

Anyone know where to get one? And while we're at it, what's your favorite place to get miscellaneous AR components (receiver extensions, castle nuts, charging handles, etc etc...you know, the boring parts of the rifle that make the high-speed stuff work) for reasonable cost?

Thanks,

Mike

Brownells still list Cavalry Arms buttstocks in the #59 catalog.
Green rifle is 100-000-940
Black rifle is 100-000-939
Coyote brown rifle stock is 100-000-962
Price is $45.00 retail for any one of them.

I will attest the buttplate assembly is just plain flimsy.
The trapdoor latch is nothing but a piece of moulded rubber and neither Mil-Spec A1 or A2 buttplate assemblies will retrofit on the buttstock.
The buttstock itself is not made to Military specification either.

I can't comment on the Carbine stocks but if the rifle stocks are any indicator, I would pass.
DPMS offers a far better stock and buttplate assembly but they don't offer the A1-C1 style of stock.
Bushmaster usually has good quality A1 buttstocks on hand and the A1 or A2 buttplate can be made to fit.
You can airbrush the stock green if you can get a color match should you want a Canadian style buttstock.

Brownells may not list them on the website any longer because they may have pulled the merchandise from stock and sent it back to the manufacturer for credit if there is indeed a product improvement in the works and if there isn't, you may find the merchandise in the closeouts section. HTH

if there is a redesign, I'll probably just wait until the new ones are out.

I'm looking for an A1 length stock that is made of A2-type materials. Any other options?

Thanks,

Mike

You could post a WTB or WTT on the AR15.com Equipment Exchange. I got one last fall that way. Cav Arms dumped a bunch of the C1s on the market in big lots last summer. So some folks have caches of them. I only wanted one, so I struck a deal with someone who posted that they bought a case of 'em.

I always swapped an RRA A2 buttplate on mine

It wasn't supposed to be. The stock is better than the A1 or A2. It has a much larger compartment and the sling swivel can be mounted to the side (although I never found that useful). The materials are just as good as anyone elses, except for the crappy buttplate.

I have a Cav Arms carbine stock too. I can not tell any difference between it and my RRA including mold marks. I don't doubt that they are made by the same manufacturer.

I'm running the C1 Cav Arms stock on one of my rifles too, though like DMK I swapped out their existing buttplate with a real A2 buttplate. No complaints with it so far. I got the stock used off of AR15.com; but bought my other CavArms furniture from DSG Arms linked above and they were pleasant to deal with.

Colt does make an A1 length stock out of A2 material; but it is a rare item and very pricey as I understand it. I also have no idea where to find one for sale. I guess Specialized Armament Warehouse might know where to get one if anyone did.

Midway USA or Brownells. Both ship quickly and won't play headgames with parts out of stock. Both will give you an FFL & C&R discount. Both have excellent service and return policies. I've ordered an extra part now and then. Both take them back for refund, no questions asked.

Midway has a really cool clickable schematic that makes it super easy to find the parts you need.

Adco Firearms is a good place to get parts as well. They also have excellent service. I never had to test their return policy though.
