I am looking to start reloading .308 and adding more brass to my .223 collection. For the most part the brass you find on the majority of sites feels a little high for my budget. This is where gun broker comes in.

The prices on gun broker seem to fit into my budget. You can find 500 1x fired .308 for as low as 79.00 + shipping. .223 gets down to 30 bucks for 500.

What I am looking for are people's stories, good or bad, about buying off of gunbroker. In the alternative point me to well priced sources for 308 and 223. Don't say the range either. My range gets picked clean. Everyone reloads here.

I've had good luck buying brass on Gunbroker.com. The sellers I have dealt with have been honest in their descriptions, I feel, and usually throw in some extra brass (if purchasing 1x) just in case there are a few cases that are unusable.

I've purchsed new .357 brass, 1x .223 brass, and 1x .40 S&W. I've never had a problem with quantity or quality. I did find a live round in the .223 brass I purchased, and informed the seller who was quite concerned and will unlikely sell another live round after screening brass more thoroughly. Good luck, I think you'll find honest sellers on Gunbroker that care about your satisfaction.

I've bought quite a bit of brass off there and always recieved good brass as in the description. I'll be looking to buy more off there soon. I have found the sellers on Gunbroker I've delt with to be top notch.

There's this place here... http://www.topbrass-inc.com/reloading-supplies/ I "think" they used to be known as Scharch, but I can't swear to that. I know Scharch was in Salida, CO, and I bought 1000 .223/5.56 processed cases from them and was VERY impressed with what I got!

Their processed brass includes swaging primer pockets, total cleaning and polishing, resizing, and trimming to length. They also offer primed brass. For the price, I remember thinking "why am I doing this myself?"

I don't know what they offer for .308, but it's worth a phone call.

I have purchased a fair amount of brass from GB also. These days I find better deals here in the Reloading Components for sale section. Every one sells good brass as far as I have had dealings with. There is a feedback area as well. I will still look at GB for things that are uncommon/scarce but for the common stuff I stay here and support our members mostly.:D

I've bought a lot of brass from GunBroker sellers. Haven't had any problems and sellers have given accurate descriptions of their products. Always carefully inspect each and every piece of once-fired brass fired in multiple firearms for signs of insipient case head separation, cracks, etc. Occasionally buying large lots of once-fired brass you will find a bad one. No difference in inspecting your own brass. I've been most satisfied buying "same headstamp" brass rather than mixed lots. Makes brass prep easier.

I have purchased a few lots of brass from GB. Most once fired is a mix of once fired and multiple fired. The last lot of 2000 223 I purchased had about 30 berdan primed cases, 20 bad cases and as I trim them I have found 60 short (1.745 to 1.730) Federal cases in the first 1000 pieces. The other 150 Federal cases in the first 1000 are between 1.745 and 1.750. I got a good price on these but I did have to contact the seller as I was short 2000 when delivered plus the Berdan and bad cases. He did send me another 200 which makes it ok. If you can get a good price go for it.

After some searching GB looks a little high.

Any bought from kbar brass? They have 500 .308 @ 65.00 and .223 1000 at 55.00

You might want to check out "The brass man" www.thebrassman.com. I tried them a short while back for some once fired 7mm RM brass and it wasn't a bad deal. I did locate a better price, but availablity was a problem for tha particular brass.

Heck, I'm selling 223 mixed headstamp for a bit over 4 cents each plus shipping. $75 for 1500 pcs shipped to your door. Tumbled in walnut, hand sorted to remove the junk. Got over ten thousand available at present.

The last batch of 3000 pcs of mixed bulk 308 brass I sold went for ten cents each plus shipping.

There's lots of other sellers on here with good deals.

There's lots of places to buy brass on the various forums, just check the sale sections.

Buying used brass for .380 ACP

I found out the hard way that Federal brass has an inner shelf that makes reloading this caliber difficult. Recent posts here verified this finding.

Like a dummy, I just order a batch of once fired brass of this. I shoulda known. Anyway, I'm now having to go through and pick out all the Federal brass and put them in my scrap brass bin.

Buyer beware.

Unless you do not want to prepare your brass yourself or simply want new unfired brass, then buying it makes sense. If you can go to your local range on saturdays or sundays when a lotta people are out and you should find plenty of once fired brass for free. Alotta times shooters will see me picking up some cases and ask why.. I tell them I reload, and then they gladly tell me I can have all of their brass thats is once fired on the spot.. Just saying. I have yet to pay for brass. My range is close to a air force base and a lotta .223, and 308 even 30-06 brass is lying around by the hundreds if not thousands on a busy day. Not to mention a unlimited supply of popular pistol brass. 45acp, 40, 9mm 380, 38spec, etc.... For a $5-7 dollar range fee, I shoot a couple hundred rounds, hang out and come home with 1 thousand assorted cases. I usually dont get to carried away cause I know I can come back anytime. I prefer to shoot out on my own range,so public range trips are usually "brass pickup" days for me. Works for me. I know this may be an obvious solution, but I felt like posting..

Even before I started reloading I have attempted to do brass pickup at my range. However, my range is FULL of reloaders. This is very nice when I have questions on working up a load or asking about different powders. With all the reloaders it is hard to find any brass outside of some very strange stuff.

It is not uncommon for me to go to the range w/ the AR and fire off a few magazines and have people ask if they can have my brass (especially since I don't pick up my brass after each magazine). In contrast I can usually find 9mm brass pretty easy as there are quite a few members who don't reload 9mm.

Ahhh I hear you. I guess I dont realize how "lucky" I am to have a range with not to many reloaders. (NOT boasting at all, Just commenting)
And lots of high volume Shooters... Especially with the battle rifles (5.56/.223, 30-06 and .308 along with popular pistol rounds.
Hard to believe these are still good to shoot but, I even have a few Lapua .223 casings sitting right here (only 20) to play with that were left by obvious reloaders.... now these I am a little leary of but they look servicable at this point. at least for one more load. seem to have been shot from a bolt gun, no visable auto loading case damage.
