People can't run forever though. Nevada is already showing signs of going the California route in the not so distant future. A lot of the same things Colorado had going on 10 years ago in its transition to Kalirado are going on there. The Vegas area has most of the state's population and it more strongly resembles a southern California city in how it conducts itself than it does one of the other mountain region cities. It won't be long before Nevada is marching to the same beat. State population demographics are close to Vegas determining what happens entirely and the voice of the rest of the state not really mattering much.
Each state that goes that path also weakens the positions of the states that have not, and strengthens and emboldens things at the federal level in the future.
In California ARs are now standard police arms, while they want to eliminate citizen possession of such firearms. The type of handguns favored by police, like 9mm and .40 with capacities over 10 rounds are also restricted and prohibited in the capacities that are the whole reason for the popularity of the calibers.
There is a strong statement when they go out of thier way to insure they arm law enforcement with something while simultaneously trying to prevent citizens from possessing it. The minimum standard arm they feel is suitable for government use is too much for the citizen to have.
