I worked the gun counter at the Ft. Worth Cabela's part time from August 2014 to November 2016 and mounted all optics when working.

Cabela's employees flat out don't buy Cabela's brand scopes, at least where I worked. They just aren't very good. There is one exception which is the Euro model, made by Meopta. It is essentially a Zeiss Conquest. The Cabela's Euro scopes are great, everything else is crap IMO.

I ordered the Cabela's Alpha Series 3-12x40 for my 10/22 TD to compare with Bushnell 3-9x40 that's on it now.

Whichever works out better will be kept and I will gift the other scope to a co-worker in need of a scope.

I don't recall the model but my father purchased a Cabelas branded scope which was returned. Clarity, brightness, and tracking were all sub-par. Thankfully Cabelas has always been great to deal with when it comes to customer satisfaction.

For inexpensive scopes that perform admirably for the price I'd take a Bushnell or Konus over the Cabelas unless they've drastically improved. Just today I mounted a $19 Tasco 4X on a 10/22 squirrel getter. Mush instead of clicks, blurry edges, but for a single yardage rifle they work fine.

I am happy with Bushnell 3-9x40 performance on the 10/22 TD.

Coworker in need of a scope has 10/22 also for 25-50 yard plinking.

Time will tell how Cabela's 3-12x40 performs. And it does come with lifetime guarantee, which was the reason why I ordered it.

I am planning a side-by-side comparison and will post my findings.
