California High Cap Magazine Ban Bill Fails Today

No, they're smart.

They'll let things blow over and then attach it to some law to save the endangered Northern California chihuahua.

At one time 40 years ago, the hippies were protesting in the streets with "Power to the People". Now that they are in power they seem to be giving the message of "Lets Oppress the People".

Sorry gents, California is screwed whether or not this mag ban is passed. Those who have weapons with detachable mags which require registration will only be offering them up for seizure once grandfathered weapons are also banned at a later date.

How did this differ from current CA law regarding 10 rnd mags?
It would have eliminated the exemption for the existing legally-owned hi-cap mags that were "grandfathered" when the state's mag/feeding device capacity law was enacted. Previously lawfully owned hi-caps would become unlawful contraband.

This would have affected private citizens who owned pre-ban hi-cap mags, as well as retired LE (who may have kept their hi-cap mags upon retirement). It would have also restricted active/working LE, if I recall, limiting their possession of hi-cap mags to only those actually issued by their appointing authority.

There would have been a time period stated for existing (previously lawfully possessed) hi-cap mags to be disposed of, destroyed, or taken out-of-state.

Sorry, but they are certainly not afraid. They just passed the bill to ban most semi automatic rifles, the few bills that didn't pass were not because they wanted to support our rights, or they were afraid, they merely knew that they would never stand up in court. Unlawful taking, as it were.

The "assault weapons" ban will hopefully meet that fate in the courts, but they didn't care about that, I suppose.
