Frankly, even though the bill was defeated (and probably had a popsicle's chance in Hell of passing anyway), I can't help but see this as a positive thing.
After all, what has happened is that legislators in one of the most anti-gun states have actually introduced legislation to liberalize concealed carry laws. That is, frankly, an accomplishment in and of itself.
It's certainly not the political victory that we would all like to see, but the fact that the legislation was introduced at all means that some of the politicians are taking the issue seriously and are willing to go on the record.
This is a baby step in the right direction. I hope that the pro-liberty folks in California are able to keep this moving forward.
