From Calguns..
SF Committee approves Gun Control Measures

VERY DISTURBING..
The committee did not forward to the board the most controversial of the measures the creation of a local registry of gun offenders due to concerns about civil liberties. Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi, head of the committee, said he expects it to also make it to the full board after some tweaking of the language by the Newsom administration.
Now those using a weapon regardless even if it was in self defense
might be considered a " GUN OFFENDER " like as in the category
of a sex offender ? SF is flat off the scale. What has my poor old birth
city turned into..

wait a minute here,
is her father a resident of the same state as she is???
i thought some guy just got canned by selling a gun to undercover ATF agent from "out of state".
does the same rule apply to gifts???
i don't think i could give my father (NJ resident) a handgun? could I?

I think she would do better by staying the H@!! out of California all together and staying near her dad and "yhtomit", so he can watch over her and get her properly trained up to where he feels comfortable with her owning a pistol!

So it appears to this non-attorney that if he loans her the gun for competition and target practice, that she can take it home to CA. I see nothing regarding how long the loan is allowed to last (although it does specify temporary use).

CA Penal Code 12078(d)(1) states, to be legal, the duration of a loan has to be less than 30 days and, if the firearm is a handgun, the person recieving the handgun needs to have a HSC.

They are in different states.
Federal law and both state laws apply when dealing with out of state firearm purchases/transfers/gifts/loans.

Good catch, Quiet.

I was just looking in Fed 922 when I said that, but you are of course correct state applies, too!

Personally, I think it is no longer possible for anyone in this country to obey all the laws. What a fiasco!
