Popped a 38 WC at one and he ran. No blood in the AM nor any hole in the deck.

Can they be hit and not bleed? ??????

Sure LOOKED like a good solid throat hold while he was staring me down.

:cuss:

I've hit them with .22's and had them take off and then die a short distance away with no blood at all. Some of them are so fat that the fat seals the entrance hole and doesn't bleed out immediatetly. Then some of them will bleed so much it looks like a slaughter house.

.38 wadcutters are not known for being loaded to high veloicity. But they do punch a pretty hole. I suspect your nose may alert you to the whereabouts of the coon in a few days.

Twice I've had a problem with deer ,with a 44mag and 45-70 where almost all the bleeding was internal. The blood went in between the muscles. This is why I like a bullet with penetration ,an entrance hole bleeds little while an exit hole will bleed more.

What about when they get run over? Twice now I have hit one with both front and rear tires and when I drive by later nada, no blood no corpse.

Around here this time of year they get picked up and sold as fast as you can run over them. I know the prices of them right now are low but that doesn't stop any one from skinning them out.
