Can using a centerfire firing pin on a rimfire model affect ignition?

I can now check off the I learned something today box.
I always thought you had to face off the barrel and re-chamber to fix firing pin damage.

If the metal will move back into the hole, I guess that means you don't have to reface. Since the chamber ironing swage is a lot cheaper than re squaring the barrel end, rechambering, it is worth a try.

But if the swage don't work........
