Can you sand & polish a composite stock?

I purchased a Fajen adjustable composite stock for Ruger 10/22 and am for the most part happy with the stock. My only issue is that the composite stock doesn't have a polished appearance, it's dull and hazy and has a couple of very small raised seams. I would like to sand the seams down and polish the stock but am looking for a bit of advice from someone who has done this type of work and to find out if I am heading down the road of ruining an otherwise nice stock. My questions are along the lines of:
1) Can I sand or just polish?
2) Any specific way to sand, wet? With what grit?
3) Polish with any particular applicator and product?

Your suggestions will be much appreciated

Most plastic can be sanded and polished, depending on what type it is. People who produce handmade pens on a lathe use various acrylics that they turn, sand, and then polish to look like glass. You can go to any of the pen making supply sites to see the types of sandpaper and polish they use.

If the seams rubbed my hand or face somewhere, I would use a file to gently remove them. Otherwise I would leave it alone.

Are you talking about a laminated stock? My boyds laminate is just slices of wood glued together - a little steel wool and truoil and wax and it look great!

I ahven't met one of the new fajen synthetic stocks, but they should be able to be sanded if not too aggressive provided they aren't jsut structural foam with a thick coating.

Polishing depends on what kind of plastic it is, so i don't know.

no it's not laminate, it is a synthetic stock. It is very sturdy and has a design to it very similar to my Kevlar stock on the CZ-550, with little ripples in it.

I'm wondering if there is any type of all-purpose polish that would work well on most synthetics.

You could probably sand it smooth and then even up the finish with a 3m scratch pad.

Call or contact Fajen and ask them. It really depends on the materials used.
