"Caracal International LLC previously instituted a recall of Caracal Model C pistols on March 28, 2013 for batchnumbers from SC188- to SC222.

Caracal is now issuing this recall of allModel C pistolsin all markets, following the completion of a full investigation. Caracal is initiating this voluntary recall of Model C pistols because the safety of its customers is paramount.

This recall affects all Model C pistols, including but not limited to those with serial numbers which start with the following letters: HM, AA, AD, AG, CA, CB, CC, CD, CE, CF, CG, CH, CI, CJ, CK, CL, CM, CN, CP, CR and CS.

If you own or have access to a Caracal Model C pistol, PLEASE DO NOT LOAD OR FIRE YOUR PISTOL. Please contact Caracal customer care immediately to arrange to have your Model C pistol returned. Caracal will provide you with a full refundof the purchase price of yourCaracal Model C pistolor vouchers for otherCaracal products. Unfortunately, the potential safety issues cannot be addressed through a repair of the Model C pistol and all Model C pistol
 
What was wrong with it? Sounds like a fatal malfunction if they are recalling all those guns with no fix available. Wow.

Has anyone one else ever recalled an entire pistol line with no fix available?
 
There were two things that led to recalls. One was the discovery that "a select number of models" (read all models in the US) were not drop safe. If you dropped it, the pistol could discharge IIRC.

The second was a catastrophic failure overseas. Google it if you are interested. The same set of pics showed up on numerous threads. An investigation ensued.

I don't know which one this recall is related to, but the company was already offering replacements or refunds for all C models for the drop safe concern. Those that chose the replacement got a new pistol, free magazine and some other wares. I thought it was a good move.

It appears like they are just going to introduce a new lineup and try to start fresh.

Personally, if I owned a Caracal pistol, I would immediately stop shooting the pistol. I don't enjoy being a beta tester when it involves risking my face ... :rolleyes:
 
Interesting, but I'd like to know what the safety issue is. It appears unstated in the linked recall notification.
 
I'm also curious what the issue is. The recall surely is not good for the bottom line of the company though.
 
No its the trid recall. First recal covered both the F and C models and was a year ago They ether replaced them + free extras or bought them back. I went for the buy back. Then the had a recall that cover C model that cover most of the replacements. Now it looks like a problem with them and ever other C made. I would not be surprised if it does not end up haveinga problem with the F models too before its over.

To bad as they were very nice shooters. All you guiys that liked them may want a steyr M, S or C -A1. same designer and same basic design out side but by a quality company.

Man, The only thing I ever hear about them is from a recall notice! I hope they get their excrement together, thats a nice looking pistol.

When I spoke to Caracal yesterday, they hinted the recall had to do with the issue in Pakistan, but then quickly said the line is ending & a new line will be here next year mid summer. I really liked my Caracal C with the Quick Sights, probably the nicest shooting pistol I have ever shot. Hate to see it go, but not taking a chance on why Caracal recalled them. Hope their new line is more successful.
 
And their carbine has been put off till next year.
Was supposed to be out by now.
