Are carbon fiber barrels worth the extra $? I'm told they lighten the barrel but act like a bull barrel. Thanks for the education?

I have some experience with the Proof Research barrels in both gas guns and bolts. They are definitely lighter. They have very similar thermal properties to a bull barrel, but maybe very slightly better. They are accurate on par with anything else out there. Rigidity and sensitivity to charge weight is good. Barrel life is unchanged.

I would not hesitate to get one on a rig you intended to carry a lot - whether for hunting or precision rifle competition or whatever. I wouldn't bother for a gun that's going to live on the bench.

When well made:

Light
Rigid
Corrosion protection
Wear and tear protection

I'm a fan of the concept, well executed.

Todd.

Problem you have with carbon fiber barrel is your stock and barrel channel. Find out dia of that barrel and mike end of stock see how much is left.
