In a previous thread, I asked for available current-production guns with a nice blue finish--as close as possible to the older S&W and Colt revolvers of yesteryear.

I got some good suggestions, such as the BHP and CZ-72. Another great suggestion is sending out a pistol to Ford's for refinishing.

I'm kind of interested in going that route. So, what are some carbon steel models (non-alloy) that would be good candidates for this process? I would like to stick with a 9 mm. I'm also not interested in a 1911-patterned gun at this time. Thanks!

I'll try to list the ones that come to mind.
Browning Hi Power
CZ-75
CZ-85
Armalite AR-24
S&W 39 1st Gen
S&W 59 1st Gen
S&W 559 2nd Gen
Tanfoglio EAA Witness
Walther P38
FEG P9R
FEG P9M
FEG FP9
IMI Jericho 941/Baby Eagle

Did Beretta ever make a full steel 92?

Absolute top choice on my list for carbon steel 9mm is the BHP.

I think the BHP is a great choice as is the CZ-75. Can you still own these in Boulder? LOL! Just kiddng. Another Front Ranger here.

Hehe, I actually just work in Boulder but live in a surrounding burb. Being from Chicago most recently, even Boulder is a hellulva lot better!

A Browning Hi Power would be my pick as well...it's just a classic beauty that works! ;)

Oh, and happy birthday!

Thanks. Trying to forget them! The Blueing on the standard Hi Power is very nice as is the CZ's. These are two classic 9MM's. Another blued all steel 9MM is the HK P7 series. They are all steel, very well made accurate and reliable pistols. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. The bluing is not as nice as the BHP or blued CZ, but its a nice base from which to start if you want to refinish.
