Case length and safety

I HATE trimming cases..... Out of a regular (not match chambered) rifle, like an 03-A3, how long can I let the case get, (past max?)before it is a safety issue. I realize the accuracy may suffer a little with varying case lengths, but it would be for general target shooting, plinking, etc. and I wouldnt be worried about "extreme" accuracy.

"Zap Trimmer"

It is made by LEE and is extremely cheap and simple to use. Makes rifle case prep a snap.

I have RCBS`s power trimmer, thats not the problem. Its just that trimming interrupts the Dillon 550s "flow", negating the purpose of having a progressive press.

I'm saying that with the Lee Zip Trimmer you can trim, debur and clean 10 cases for every one or two cases you can do with a RCBS power trimmer. And there is no setup involved.

I'll take the Pepsi challenge with anyone.

Really? I understand the Lee has a rod that determines the correct trim length, but is the chucking mechanism that fast, or what? Sounds interesting, because its true, I dont like the set-up involved with the RCBS.

I run the cases through the trimmer twice. Once to clean (using 0000x steelwool) and a second time to cut and debur. The process in between is decap, neck size and inspect. Don't like running dirty cases through the die and I like to measure after cases have been resized. Can cut and debur eight to ten cases a minute. Setup is screwing the case length gauge to the cutter and screwing the shell holder to the trimming wheel. Best $20 I've ever spent on loading equipment. Only time I run the case tumbler now is when there is volume and don't have a need anymore for an expensive power trimmer. It is truly a great plastic gadget that is a must have. Very surprised more have not caught on.

I have a Lee Zip trim too, and it works well. If you are trying to get away from trimming every few rounds, you might consider the RCBS X die, which is supposed to resize the case without having to trim.
