Case Shoulder Dents

..I was reloading for my .300 Remingtone ulta mag..I have fired new brass one time..So now I'm full length sizeing the once fired brass..And..I must have gotten lube on the shoulder..So I put some small dents in the shoulder area of a few cases..I also checked the vent hole on the RCBS Die and it was clear...I took the die apart and cleaned it..After putting the die back together and making sure the shoulder area of the case is free of any lube I had 100 percent improvment..SO..for the question..Can I still load the brass and shoot?..Will I lose pressure? or velocity?..As you read this you probably realize that how new I am to loading..oh..It didn't move the shoulder area at all just alot of dents..Thanks in advance ...Carl

If they are not big, and especially if they are not creases, you are probably OK.

Oil dents are OK, no problem, will blow out, as long as they aren't so sharp as to make creases.

you will have not problem what so ever. when I first started reloading 17 years ago I thought dents in the shoulder was something normal. then I was speaking with my dad and he said "son, why are you putting so much lube on them cases". well you know where that leads. I loaded dented case by the hundreds and fired them. not problems. I suppose it could cause undue stress on the case and reduce its life span. but as far as hurting your gun. i don't think it is going to hurt anything.

I just tried Wire Pulling Lube(Ideal 77 yellow) as a case lube, I got wax dents, they look similar to oil dents! I had to back off the amount. I had mixed alcohol and the WPL and put it in a hair spray bottle, put the cases in a zip-lock bag, sprayed a few pumps in the bag and roll them around. I got too much! I'll try experimenting again with the rifle cases, but I think I'll stick to other lube on rifle cases, but it works great on pistol cases.
The oil or wax dents shoot fine, when firing the 50,000+PSI will resize them with out dents. I don't like them(dents) but they are fine. Some of the HK chambers had flutes in them and I have shot(reloaded) some of that brass, the flutes iron out and are smooth after firing.

thry the link above. I have been using this type of case lube for years. when I first purchaced it I bought several tubs. I am still working on my first tub. have loaded several hundred if not a thousand.

I have seen this on 30-30 casings. When my friend loaded the same brass several times and with dents each time, the brass cracked on the shoulder where the dents had been.
Just be careful how much lube you use on the shoulder. The problem can be avoided.
