The half moon is the imprint of the compressed flake of powder

BUT LIKE I SAID "" NO CIRCLE OR HALF CIRCLE IN THE REMINGTON PRIMERS""
GO FIGURE??
I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH CCI BEFORE & IT IS PROBABLY THE ROD

You don't have to yell at us

I have 4 primer rods for my RCBS auto primer & I can tell you that no powder is making these marks As I wipe them off every few rounds.

lap them on glass? Use the figure 8, and if possible clamp the tool to a 'V' Block. nothing like working 90 degree to the work surface.

Did you check my spelling also??
You guys are as diligent as the ACLU
OP, you've been round long enough to know better than to snap at members trying to smooth the flow of a thread. Either that of learn the meaning and use of emoticons ;)

Typing in alternating Caps and Lowercase, besides being considered rude, is highly distracting to a reader.

While this is the internet and we've made accommodations in sentence structure and tense agreement, it really isn't an excuse to disregard clarity in written communication

clean your press

try cleaning out your press. I clean mine out every 400-500 rounds and this issue should resolve

I make it a habit to clean the press and the priming die and ram before I start. I also give the case head a light tap on the bench before I put it in the shell holder, just in case there might be a foreign piece of what ever waiting to fall out and on the head of the priming ram.

Thanks for all your help & advice.
As this is the new America I will attempt to be politically correct from now on.
I polished all the circles out of the Chinese primer rods & they are working fine.
Enjoy & have a great year.

The unplated WLR & WLRM primers I have are undersize in diameter. They must have forgot to allow for the plating that adds to the metal!

They fit loose in good primer pockets.

I used to get these all the time when I primed off the press. Mine were caused by little brass slivers laying on the priming pin inside the little spring loaded cup the primer sits in. I had to pull the spring loaded cup down, and wipe the sliver off the top.

When you buy a RCBS auto prime unit--you will find that the lathe cuts leave ridges( at least on my last purchase)--these ridges are deep enuf to cut some primers---not enuf to stop them from going bang--just enuf to **** me off.
Have fun.
