I've got a challenge for all the Republicans on this board. How about
turning up the heat on your Congressmen and Senators as far as gun control
goes and badger them into actually doing something? Instead of just
blocking Democratic efforts in the present? Float the radical concept of
repealing that Democratic BS. Tell them to show a set of testicles for
once(or ovaries as the case may be.)

Oh, yeah. Almost forgot. Tell Dubya to issue an Executive Order cancelling that nauseating one of his Dad's regarding the importation of assault weapons.

Remember, the Republican Party is our protector:rolleyes:

No, seriously. The Republican Party now firmly controls the government of the United States. Let’s see all that good stuff we’ve been promised if only just such an event would come to pass.

You have two years before the Democratic counterrevolution begins. Get busy!

~G. Fink

I was planning to contact a few people soon.

Besides calling and writing your congresscritter, it would also be a good idea to send the message through your local Republican party apparatchik.

Remember, the Republican Party is our protector

A challenge for the Libertarians here.

Do the same.
The Republican voters in theis country turned out in great numbers to give an added edge in the Senate, a majority mandate to the President and probably the most favorably progun government we've had in 50 years. Knock off the backbiting, take advantage of the situation, and get to work!

I think it would be more effective to write to the Democratic losers, why you had NOT voted for them!

It should be made crystal clear to them, that as long as they support gun control, they will continue to lose all future elections.

Drive home the message to them. "Do not mess with the 2nd amendment!".

Do you have this EO number? I've read all of Bush I's EO's and can't find this one.

The big push now should be to contact your Senators, as well as Senator Frist, and tell them to stop playing games with the Judicial appointments and put some strict constitutionalists on the bench.

My understanding is that Bush 41 issued such an order. But then it was codified into law early in the first Clinton term. So Bush 43 can't just issue another order. There would have to be an actual law passed by both houses and signed by the President.

That's the way I understand it. I _could_ by wrong!

My #1 thing I would like to see changed is the 86 RR order that restricted the manufacture of any new transferable machine guns. You have what has been called "the most regulated and law abiding group of people in the US" and yet they aren't allowed to buy anything new? It was nothing but a political stunt to issue such an order. If we can't explain how these guns are NEVER used in a crime then I guess we just aren't very good speakers!

#2 would be some sort of national CCW law.

Gregg

I agree. I'd give anything to get rid of Carl Levin. He and brother Sander have a stronghold in Detroit that keep re-electing them to Washington. I'm grateful that I live on the W. side of the state with a Republican representative who is pro-Second Amendment. Levin is like Kennedy, Kerry, Feinstein, etc. a real pita!

Sure, I'll call my representatives.

Senator Ted "I'll Drive" Kennedy.

and

Senator John "Did you know that I have THREE Purple Hearts" Kerry.

Unfortunately we have a real uphill battle here in the People's Commonwealth. We have a Republican Governor but he is as pro-gun as Rudi and Arni.

Although I think it's a pretty good idea overall, it's pretty weak on your part to throw dirt on us because your chosen candidate/party is so lame nobody can relate to them.

Give us credit for staving off the collapse of the republic for a few more years at least, Byron!

You seem to be giving yourselves more than enough as it is.

As somebody else already said, I too would like to see this big payoff now that Socialist Party A is firmly in control of the government.

Bush had 4 years to do ANYTHING pro gun but all he did was block Democrats and do nothing as the assault weapons ban sunsetted WHILE giving lip service to NOT wanting it to sunset. He is not pro-gun, He is not anti-abortion, he is not anti-gay marriage, he is "change as many laws and regulations so my very very wealthy backroom pals can become very very very very wealthy." He just gives lips service to all of those conservative issues so he could mobilize people who care about those issues into voting him back into office. :banghead:

Yeah, I hate that he did "nothing." If only Al Gore were president, because he would have done something about it. Oh, well. It's too late now. :(

E-mail I received from the NRA says that pretty much they arent going to pursue anything except Lawsuit Reform and DC gun ban. So, you can forget about them pushing for repeal of any gun laws that effect the other 99% of the country.

Here's the current situation, as the NRA sees it.

A. The Republicans need 60 votes to do much of anything in the Senate and they don't have 60 ; b. the Democrats left in the Senate are the worst of the worst (with a very few exceptions); c. some of the Republicans in the Senate are among our worst enemies and there is nothing us or their party can do about it; d. Supreme Court judges have nothing to do with anything if we are lucky. Even the best court we could dream up would sustain almost all state and federal laws now on the books with the possible exceptions of DC and Chicago (and I would not bet money on that even); e. The only foreseeable changes for machine guns will be tiny, around the edges and costly beyond belief (just look at how hard our enemies want to fight on semi-autos - forget NFA). NRA has an active and aggressive agenda starting with stopping stupid lawsuits and repealing the DC gun ban. The forces lined up against us on those two issues have literally billions to spend. We also have regular appropriations items we have to fight for year in and year out that can never be made permanent. We will do a lot but much of it will be behind the scenes.
Keep up the fight! We need the help of our members.

That e-mail is more discouraging than about anything I have read in a long time. Help me see the bright side, please? Seriously.

No, I don't think so.

I disagree with almost EVERYTHING that the Democratic party stands for. The last thing I want is for my taxes to go up, get nationalized health care, etc. just because they pander to gun owners.

Sorry.

I've been writing, e-mailing, calling, etc.

I think we should all make our desires known, and as soon as possible. If we can get our representatives working on things like moving suppressors to Title I while Dems are still reeling from losing so sorely, we may be able to get it pushed through.

Even just a quick e-mail, a quick phonecall, anything, would help make our desires known.

Get going! :)
