Showed these images to the guys at Benelli. They said that they consider it "normal" as they had a SuperNova Tactical nearby that had the same markings. They said that these were intentional due to allowing for barrel fitment. Hmm.. Either way, looks like crapola to me. Now, this is an aluminum receiver, so Im hoping that rust wont be much of an issue here. Do any of you all think these areas will pose much of an issue? For now, everything seems to fit/match tightly and as of now, I have about 40 rounds through the gun without issue.

When I picked up my supernova I inspected it right there before I paid for it. I noticed that exact same thing where the barrel and the reciever overlap. I asked the guy if that was normal and he said he had never noticed it before. He took me to the back and we looked at 15 different supernovas from camo to HD. Every single one was like that so it must be there for a reason, perhaps barrel fit. It does look like a defect in the finish but someone at Benelli decided its necessary. The outside finish is flawless and it doesnt affect the function of the gun whatsoever so im not too worried about it. I used a light coating of silicon spray inside the reciever to protect the bare metal. I didnt know what else to use that wouldnt harm the plastic.
