I have a Browning BPS. I want to change the point of impact. Right now I have to cover the target with the barrel. I want to be able to hold the mussle just below the target so that I can maintain the target in my vision. Can I do this and if so, How & How Much$$$$$$$. Thanks, Phil

You didn't mention what kind of sights are on the gun now, fixed or adjustable?

Anyway the rule of thumb is: To make the gun shoot higher, raise the rear sight, or lower the front one. This may or may not be practical to do with the sights you now have. In that case the only solution is to replace the sights, either both or one or the other.

Making a shotgun shoot high like a trap gun usually implies fixed sights

Reluctant though I be to disagree with Old Fuff :neener: changing the point of impact on a slide action shotgun (in the case of the BPS the rifled deer hunter model excepted; that has a scope mount and is presumably not applicable to the current question) mostly depends on rib and stock but some people go so far as to bend the barrel a tad.

In this case having somebody like Simmons do something to the rib would be an option as would be using an off center version of the Invector-Plus™ choke tube. I'd talk to Briley for that option. Putting a few layers of adhesive backed moleskin or equal on the comb is another time honored option. I'd start with raising the comb for little or no money - eventually as much as you care to spend and some spend a lot on their trap guns. Swapping out for a dedicated trap stock would be another option.

After jumping in with the above I see this was cross-posted to Shotgun - seriously the sticky pads on top of the comb is the way to start and there are such made especially for the purpose from the usual suspects as well as everything from lace-on leather to mimic military sniper to folks who use skateboard tape on their longarm stocks. Brownells says:
Comb-raising kit converts your field stock to a Monte Carlo stock without permanent alterations. Neoprene pad and foam inserts give you a precise cheek rest height and helps reduce felt recoil on your cheek. Foam inserts come in 1/8", ¼", 3/8", ½" and 5/8" sizes for a fully adjustable comb height. Fits most firearms without gunsmith installation

Darn....

The poor Ol' Fuff suffered a senior moment and thought the post said "BHP" (a pistol,) not "BPS" (a shotgun.) You guys have to spell out the names for us old timers with bad eyesight.

Well anyway, the answer is to sell the shotgun and get a pistol... ;)
