I'm pretty new to reloading, and up to now have just done 9mm and 45 ACP. That has gone well, and I'm really enjoying working up loads, trying it out, keeping notes, all of it. It's a great hobby.

So, now I want to get started in rifle calibers. My buddy and I shoot mostly .223 (yes, we caught the AR bug), so we will be loading quite a lot. I'll also be reloading 300 WinMag, but not nearly the volume as .223.

So here is my question. One of the things I like the most about the Lee Turret press I am using is the Pro Auto Disk that allows me to charge the case while I am widening the mouth. It's automatic, accurate and easy. Is there a way to do it with rifle cartridges as well? I don't think I want to have to charge each .223 case with a funnel. Any help out there?

Griz, thanks. I should have read my Lee catalog, because I saw the charging die, and the double disk setup, in there.

1911, what grizz linked to is the lee PPM on a lee loadmaster or some other lee progressive,(not sure which). On your turret, it will not be automatic. You will have to manually operate the measure to use the rifle charging die in a lee turret.

The pro auto disc can be used, but it won't have enough capacity to charge the large powder charges for the 300 mag.

Here's another option, a Hornady case activated powder die with linkage, and a lee or other drum type of powder measure.

Coupled with the Hornady measure, powder charging would be automatic and infinitely variable.

Yeah, I knew the one Griz linked too was not automatic. I'm not worried about the 300 WM because I will be loading 20 or so at a time of those. No big deal to use a funnel. I don't wnat to have to do it with the .223 at a couple hundred rounds a pop.
