So I walked into sportsman's warehouse today - planning on buying a Stevens 200. They had 'em on sale this weekend for $269 - which is a pretty decent price. I know it's not the greatest gun in the world - but I figured, decent platform to build on. Replace the stock - maybe upgrade the trigger at some point if I don't like it... before too long i'd have a pretty respectable rifle.
Well, as it turns out - They had a few other things that caught my eye.
Ended up walking out with a Vanguard Sporter in .270 for $450, topped with a Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 ($140). $450 was considerably more then $269 I was planning on spending - but I know the same gun on Bud's goes for $530-$540. Even gun broker - cheapest thing goin is $528. Feel like I got a pretty fair deal overall, and the staff was pretty helpful and friendly.
So, Christmas came early - and as usual, you go in expecting to buy one thing, come out with something completely different.
