chronograph of air guns ?

I have a new Chronograph CED Millenium M2

I'm trouble shooting zero readings - looking at the web site
with the variables to consider etc.

ANybody have experience with trying to chrono an air gun?

FYI - I have a Crossman pump it up pistol and with 8 strokes
it's spozed to be 525 FPS. .177 pellets.

I've chronoed lots of airguns. The most important thing is your light. Since we can, many of us shoot our airguns indoors and it's hard to get a good reading indoors. The way I do it is I have my chrony set up in my garage with short reflectors above it and a clip on shop light set up above everything. Make sure to use an incandescent bulb. Fluorescents pulsate and don't work well with chronographs.

525 fps sounds about right if you're talking about a 1377. It will depend a lot on what pellets you use though. Heavy pellets can slow your velocity down by 100 fps or more.

Yes, I have chrono'd many.
As Elmer Said. Lighting is the key....And even then you get some errors with
.177 pellets.

Now, for the 1377.
Here is my spread with 7.9 grains pellets.

10 pumps - 637.6 fps
15 pumps - 694.0 fps
17 pumps - 724.2 fps
20 pumps - 759.0 fps
25 pumps - 775.0 fps
30 pumps - 801.1 fps with 8.44 grain pellet.

My 1322 did 640fps with 25 pumps.

11 pumps (with a little air still left in the valve after shot ---I found it's max point.) Not recommended to pump past 8. As the linkage will start to bend after a period of pumping with the extra force required to pump.

11 Pumps - 705.4fps

Talon SS @ 2900 psi fill and 24" Barrel shooting 16 grain pellets.
First 30 shots was 950-970 fps.
Shots 30-60 were 940-910's fps.

Shadow 1000
870's with 7.9 grain pellets.

BAM B26 in .22
670 fps after tune with 14.2 grain pellets.

I no longer own My Air Rifles. I sold them to pursue pistol shooting.
So far the money I (lost) has bought me a Ruger P90, Charles Daily in 20ga.
Taurus PT911, and a few others.

I've owned a few others, but don't have any pics.

I miss my Air Rifles.................I want a few back.

I thought about slapping a scope on mine, but the William's peep sight is all I need, really, plus it doesn't compromise pumping leverage. Of course, all I use it for is vermin control and the occasional plinking session in the back yard.

...back OT, As stated before, lighting is the most important thing for accurate readings, overcast skys are ideal if you're doing it outdoors.

Yes, I wanted a Williams. But $70.00 is the same as that scope.
So I choose the scope. Then 15.00 for the mounts.
