I did a search...here, google, and can't seem to find a source for buying clays online. The local Bass Pro shop sells Remington clays cases, but only on a seasonal basis. I find a lot of manufacturers, with contact information geared for club purchases and such, but here's what I'm looking for and need help with:

Does anyone have a source for clay pigeons online that meet the following parameters?:

  • would sell small lots, say 5-10 cases at a time
  • are biodegradable...
  • average selection of colors
  • non-toxic to wildlife...lots of deer, elk and the odd black bear

I've just started lessons at a local club, but now my wife got me a Trius Trap [foot operated] for Christmas, and I'd like to park it at the farm with a supply of clays.

Thanks for the help, and hopefully I've place this thread in the appropriate forum...apologies if I'm mistaken!

Most clubs will sell cases of targets to individuals, maybe not all, but it would be worth asking. Buying through mail has all sorts of problems, mainly breakage during shipping, but even shipping small quantities the price of freight would be outrageous if you don't buy at least a full skid.

Ditto on the WalMart
$5 buys you 90 remington's.
they blow up just fine.
Bass Pro/Sportsman Warehouse/Cabella's/etc, should all have them at a fair price.
Just wait til you get into reloading.;)

Can't see how you would save any money buying them online. I buy 135 count White Flyers at a local farm supply store for $6.99, sometimes catch them on sale for $5.99. If I have to, WalMart Remingtons, 90 count $3.97. Sportsman's Warehouse also has a nice selection at good prices.

If you had them shipped in, providing UPS could get them to you in one piece, the shipping alone would be more than the retail price.

Those animals aren't dumb enough to try and eat clay pigeons. The pitch based ones can be toxic to pigs, because pigs root for their food.

Thanks for the info everyone...

It's not so much that I needed them online...I'm just having a hard time finding them locally. Don't have a Walmart near here, and the Bass Pro Shop gun department salespeople tell me that the local store carries them "once or twice a year."

You've given me some good ideas though for tracking them down, [along with some good reasons for not having them shipped.]

Thanks again!

You don't have a WalMart near you?
Really?
I really didn't think such a place existed anymore in the US.
Must be a nice low pressure place to live if even Wal Mart ignores it.:)

Wal Mart sells them less than $5 per 90 when they bother to stock them. Check out K Mart too. Support your local dealer if possible but many do not stock clays or charge astronomical prices for them. The clays Wal Mart sells say on the box not to throw them where hogs feed.

WalMart, $3.97/box, K-Mart $5.29/box. Thing is, K-Mart usually has them, WalMart sells out a lot. K-Mart sells Champion brand, WalMart sells Remington, I bought a couple boxes last weekend from K-Mart but have yet to try them out. I prefer White Flyers.

Scout26, that sounds very interesting. I guess the problem would be keeping them frozen in the summer. Big cooler in the shooting area I guess.
