cleaning a h7r ultra/nef handi rifle

when i clean my ultra,i strip rifle down and put barrel unit in midway gun vise thing. not working real well,as barrel not locked in,just sitting there.
don't want to put in bench vise,so looking for suggestions.
how are you holding your rifle to clean the barrel?
do you remove the forearm when cleaning?

I have a different .17, but here's what I do.

Open the action, and lay the thing on a table covered in newspaper. Hold the barrel (near the breech) with one hand, and carefully insert the rod with the other hand, holding the rod near the jag/brush. When the rod is firmly in the bore, I switch to the handle and carefully feed it in the rest of the way.

No vise, no holder, just a table and my own two hands.

heres my cleaning set up.

Open action , make safe, Pipe clean Chamber, toothbrush breeface and extraction, drop of oil on hinge, wipe off exterior -done.

Old towel or newpapers work...if I need to set down ...but I ain't gonna be that long...
