Hi folks,
I tried to search before posting. Sorry if this is common knowledge or has been posted before. I recently found a Mossberg 930 SPX for a reasonable price and brought it home with me :) I field stripped it to check the components, but during reassembly found it a pain to get the spring and extended tube reinstalled. I noticed the hole at the end of the tube. Turns out that it is just slightly bigger than a cleaning rod for .17 rifles. You can slip the rod through the mag extension and then thread the spring on to it. Now just insert the free end of the spring into the main magazine and make sure that at least part of the cleaning rod is also in the magazine tube. The rest of the assembly is easy because the spring is captured.

Hope this helps!
