Closest to a drop in thumb saftey for a SA Mil Spec 1911

I decided that my Springfield 1911 is perfect exept for that the thumb saftey sucks because it's choppy feeling and short and sharp feeling. I've been lucky with most mods or repairs that I've tried and want to fit it myself. So what do you guys feel is the closest thing to a drop in thumb saftey for this gun. I want hear from springfileld owners who have changed this part. Thanks
 
I own several as well as other brands and can tell you that there is no difference in fitting between brands. They all must be fit as there are too many variables with parts.

You will need some good tools - accurate dial calipers or micrometer and fine cut file. Pin gages would be good for checking the diameter of the frame and grip safety holes but are not absolutely necessary.

I checked and it works for me. Are you a member there? You might have to be a member to see it. That was a search for posts relative to safety fit.

Yes, I'm a member. This is the result:

The problem is, you linked the search results page. The search ID of that page is tied to your userID so only you can see it and then only when you are logged in.

OK try a search with key word "thumb", user name "BBBBill" or "pistolwrench" or "log man", and search in forum "gunsmithing and troubleshooting". Do not put "safety" in as a key word. You will get too many returns that do not fit what you are looking for.
