Order placed in March for 500 rounds of Carbine ammo arrived today.

Odd that a US gov't agency would be selling foreign products, but it's Aguila, made in Mexico.

With the shipping, worked out to about $16.50/box of 50.

At this point I wouldn't care if it was made on Mars, just glad to get it.

Anyone know if it's Berdan or regular primed?

NLU 438A - 500 rounds. Manufactured by Aguila. .30 carbine. 110 grain. FMJ. Copper jacketed, brass case, boxer primed, non-corrosive.

From the CMP's site: http://www.thecmp.org/ammosales.htm Bold is mine.

Also, I don't believe that the CMP is technically a government agency, but a non-profit that is chartered by Congress. Can anyone else shed some light on that?

CMP isn't a US government agency. Used to be, but that was changed a while ago. They get what they can where they can so we can shoot it.

Welcome to the CMP

The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is a national organization dedicated to training and educating U. S. citizens in responsible uses of firearms and airguns through gun safety training, marksmanship training and competitions. The CMP is a federally chartered 501 (c) (3) corporation that places its highest priority on serving youth through gun safety and marksmanship activities that encourage personal growth and build life skills.

From 1916 until 1996 the CMP was administered by the U.S. Army. The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1996 (TITLE XVI) created the Corporation for the Promotion of Rifle Practice & Firearms Safety, Inc. (CPRPFS) to take over administration and promotion of the CMP. The CPRPFS is a tax exempt not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that derives its mission from public law.

Yeah, CMP is not a .gov and it also sells Greek milsurp .30-06 ammo and German air rifles.

I've been pleased with the Aguila .30 Carbine ammo. At least Aguila is owned by Remington.

I'm not sure the government cares much about buying American, anyway.
My son is in the Coast Guard. He was issued his small-boat working and survival gear last year, and a whole bunch of it was made overseas.
The Coast Guard's current main fixed-wing patrol aircraft is a French jet. The turbo-prop taking over that role is Spanish.
