so there's no legal issue with having it shipped to another state than the one in which i reside?

if no, awesome! cant wait, which sucks, i cause i hear the turn around can be pretty rough

Turn around is not that bad. I and four friends ordered within the last 6 months and the longest turn around on first time purchases was 35 days. My second order was at my door 27 days from when I mailed my order in.

Shrewd,

CMP ships via FEDEX ground with adult signature required. They "should" not leave the package outside your door. If no one is home to receive and sign for it, then you would need to pick it up at the FEDEX hub near you after the failed delivery attempt.

There is nothing like the white truck of happiness dropping off a Garand or 2 at your door.

so i cant shoot commercial ammo out of a garand :banghead: no big deal M2 doesn't seem to hard to find :banghead:but ive been doing a little research on it and apparently it is possible to shoot commercial ammo you just have to get an adjustable gas screw is that true and where would i find one of these adjustable gas screws

thanks docnyt have you used them before and how hard is it to adjust and how do you know if its adjusted right

FlyinBryan, That rifle is gorgeous! I'm guessing it's *not* service grade, but what grade is it - collector? special?

thanks bearfoot. it is a service grade. 595 bux

its a 1944 springer, all correct except for an hra elevation knob and a winchester milled trigger gaurd.

we drove to the south store and picked out 2.

incredible shooters. each has fired an 8rd group that can be covered with a quarter @50yds (by my brother who seems to be the garand master around here.)

it is not uncommon to find service grades on the rack that look as good,,,, if not better than mine. (many are owned by members here)

Get OUT!
For some reason, I thought the service grade rifles would look more, um... experienced. To quote a certain Mr. Smith: "I have got to get me one of these!"

ya, 1k definitely has an extremely enviable collection.

p.s. i have decided to accept your pm'd offer of trading my birch for that walnut,,,,, you offered it 6 months ago, and forgot about it, you dont remember it, and we have both deleted the pm's regarding said transaction.

i'll pm you my shipping address
:D

I'm a little late on the GI wood comments but the only Service grade I've gotten so far without GI wood was a Winchester. No big deal though. I ordered a M-1 stock from E-Gun parts and I'll be darned if they did't send me a GI Winchester Stock. It ruined my plans at the time but made up for it when my S/G Winchester came in.

i got all the paperwork filled out but does everyone have to pay sales tax or just Alabama and Ohio residents

Colt, if you buy at the store, you pay their state tax...if you order by mail, you pay for rifle an shipping...thats it! Lots of guys out of state that visit the stores buy, but have them ship back to their homes, seems shipping is cheaper than the tax.....by the way are you from IN....?....INGO by chance?
