I have a '73 Winchester from 1881 that I would like to know more about. I went to the Cody site and found the information for my rifle is in the "Warehouse" records. It also noted there are "gaps" in those records.
Their site includes an email address. Would they be able to advise whether they have my information or not?
I'm open to all advice.

I recall them having fairly conclusive statements regarding the gaps based upon your production date to tell whether or not they can find your info.

For me, the *Cody* link is not opening. Maybe other have input on that. https://www.winchesterguns.com/support/faq/date-your-firearm.html This link used to tell you beforehand whether or not they could help you.

Todd.

I just sold my 1889 ‘73 on Sat. From some letters I’ve seen, they really don’t have much info on some of them, and for the amount they charge, I just didn’t feel it was worth it.

If the gun is special, has option features, barrel length is other than standard, stock is different, etc., then maybe it’s worth it to prove those were factory features.

Factory letters from Cody are great for verifying special order features or even if you want to find out if your gun is a plain vanilla arm. Perhaps the gaps you're referring to are the docs lost in the warehouse fire at.Winchester back in the day.
